In searching for a new ob-gyn when I moved to Oregon 20 years ago, I wasn't exactly sure what I was looking for. However, I found it in Lydia Collins. She was young, enthusiastic and patient oriented. She delivered my last two children naturally; I had been told by my old school doctor in California that, after having had two c-sections, that wouldn't be possible. At that point, I was an "older" mom, but Lydia was never too busy to answer questions, discuss what was coming, soothe my fears about a natural delivery or just sit and visit. Her method of care is skillful and full of kindness and caring. When she went on sabbatical a few years back, I was lost. I tried another doctor, but frankly, there was no comparison.
I was overjoyed with the news that Lydia was coming back to active practice and immediately scheduled my next exam -- not only for me, but for my then 16 year old daughter. I wouldn't entrust her care to anyone else. Her experience with Lydia has mirrored mine. Lydia's caring way encouraged an honest exchange of information and made it easy for my daughter to ask questions. The first gynecological experience is often difficult and awkward for a young woman; truly not the case for my daughter with Lydia.
